Search and read
Search and reading use the active org’s entitlement. Results outside that org’s content grants do not appear. This page is an overview, not a click-through of every filter.
Issues and judgements
Two full-text search hubs, both signed-in with an org:
- Issues — extracted points of law from reportable judgements
- Judgements — those reportable opinions as a whole
Opening an issue hit does not go to a separate issue URL. It opens the parent judgement at /judgements/…, with in-page issue chrome on that reading page.
Search hits and snippets do not consume view units. Pagination is capped; you cannot page through the entire corpus in one query.
All cases
Cases is a list, not the same full-text search. It includes reportable and non-reportable judgements. Non-reportable opinions stay off issue/judgement search.
Signed-out visitors see a short catalogue on Cases, not a convert wall. Issue and judgement hubs, signed out, show a convert wall (Start free / Log in) on the same URL — not a live query box.
Zero-org signed-in users bounce to Start before research, including Cases.
What you can see
Every judgement has a Court (the grant key: Supreme Court, a High Court, or a tribunal family) and a forum label (seat or bench for display, for example ITAT Mumbai). Packs and filters use Court, not the seat string.
Content is sliced by knowledge buckets and Court. Your org accumulates buckets and courts through curated packs and, on paid plans, à la carte lines. There is no all-buckets plan. An All jurisdictions grant is a Court wildcard.
The session’s active org is the only snapshot that applies. Switching orgs does not merge entitlements.
Reading a judgement
The stable reading URL is /judgements/{id}. A Law1 citation you copy may look like /cite/… and redirects to that same judgement.
The first time the active org opens the body of a given judgement in a billing period, that counts as one view against the org’s pool (or a view credit). Later opens of the same judgement in that period do not take another view. Search does not.
Original PDF download is a separate pool. Free orgs have no included PDF allowance unless they still hold PDF credits. Entitled PDFs are watermarked.
If a body or PDF is blocked, the product may show a code. Quote it when you write to support — Error codes and Limits and errors.
