Company
Lawone Solutions Pvt Ltd. We build research software for people who argue points of law for a living.
What we are
Law1 is research software for legal practitioners. You search issues extracted from judgements: the point of law, not the whole case. Research is scoped to your organisation. The library is the public record of case law, not your client’s matter.
A practitioner does not start from a PDF. They start from a question — whether a deduction survives, whether a notice is valid, whether a provision still means what it used to. We organise case law so a search returns those points, not every document that happens to share a word.
We work first in Indian tax — ITAT, GST, and direct tax. We have started work on civil matters, including company law and the wider tax statutes. Criminal law will be picked up later. The end goal is one place for legal research in India.
Origin and the problem
You already pay for an AI tool — Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Perplexity — and separately for a legal database. Those two purchases do not work together. Existing databases block other software from connecting to their services, so the tool you already use cannot reach the library you already pay for.
Some of those databases now include a built-in chat. It is nowhere near what Claude, Gemini, Copilot, ChatGPT, or Perplexity already give you. You do not need a weaker Q&A bolted onto a closed library. You need a database that lets you use your own AI tool — the one you already chose.
The interfaces are slow and hard to use. You need the point of law, not another case-law database.
Law1 exists to change that. A proof of concept ran in May 2026. The company has been building since August 2026. The product is under active development and improves weekly from your feedback.
Vision
Counsel reason in issues — points of law. We aim to build software that matches that habit, not the way databases store PDFs. Over time, the same shape of research should cover Indian law as a whole, not only the domains we ship first.
Mission
We extract issues from judgements and make those points of law searchable for practitioners, inside your organisation. We begin with Indian tax, then civil work, and we keep going until this is the library you open first.
Values
Extracted, not generated
Every issue is extracted from a judgement. We do not generate the point of law. The model you already use can help you work with that record. It does not get to invent it.
Researcher time is scarce
Your hours are limited. The product should be fast, and a search should return the issue, not the whole case. If the page makes you wait, we have failed the job.
Your tools, not ours
Chambers already chose Claude, Gemini, Copilot, ChatGPT, or Perplexity. We do not ask you to abandon that choice for a chat bolted onto a closed database. The library should connect to the software you already pay for.
