Terms of Service
Effective 1 May 2026
These Terms of Service (Terms) are a contract between you and LAWONE SOLUTIONS PRIVATE LIMITED (we, us, Law1, or Lawone Solutions Pvt Ltd). They govern access to and use of the Law1 legal-research service at https://law1.in (the Service).
Our registered office is 2nd Floor, A417, Lane 4, Road no 28, Ramnagar, Wagle Estate, MH, 400604, India. CIN: U58122MR2026PTC481366.
This page is an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000. It does not need a physical or digital signature.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. How this contract is formed
You agree to these Terms when you:
- tick to accept them (including when you sign up, accept an invite, create an Org, or complete a paid checkout);
- create or use a User account;
- create or join an Org; or
- otherwise access or use the Service.
A User is an individual. An Org is the organisation that is the billing and data boundary for research on Law1. There is no “personal org”. Creating a User does not create an Org.
When you create an Org or complete a chargeable checkout, you confirm you are authorised to bind that Org. The Org is then a party to these Terms. Members who join an Org accept these Terms for themselves. Joining as a Member does not, by itself, let that Member bind the Org.
These Terms work together with the pages listed below. The Acceptable Use Policy is incorporated into these Terms. The other pages apply as stated on them and where these Terms point to them.

- Disclaimer
- Privacy Policy

2. The Service
Law1 is an online legal-research tool. It lets entitled Users search and read Indian case law and related material we host, organise work in Org-scoped projects, and (on entitled plans) comment, star, and use other research features we make available. We may also offer digital add-ons such as books. Public pages of the site may be browsed without an account.
The Service is a professional research aid. It is not legal advice. Using Law1 does not create an advocate–client or other professional relationship with us. You must apply your own professional judgment and verify anything material against the certified court record, the gazette, or another primary source. Read the Disclaimer.
We may change features, content coverage, interfaces (including our official machine-readable surface), and the way entitlements are enforced. We do not promise that any particular judgment, issue, citation, or feature will be available at any time. Judgments are public records. We may be behind the court or the gazette.
3. Eligibility
The Service is for people who are 18 or older. By using it you confirm that you are at least 18 and competent to contract under Indian law.
We do not offer a guardian or parental-consent flow. An Org category labelled student means an adult professional student (for example law, CA, or CS). It does not mean a minor.
We do not direct the Service at children.
If you use the Service for an Org, you confirm that you have authority to do what you do (create the Org, invite Members, buy, cancel, or bind the Org, as applicable).
4. Accounts, Users, Orgs, and seats
Users
A User is a verified email identity. In this version of the Service:
- a User is created by mail to
[email protected]from that address, by accepting an invite, or by signing in with Google; - there is no password;
- we do not collect a phone number;
- the sign-in email cannot be changed in this version of the Service; a different mailbox is a new User.
You must keep your sign-in details and mailbox under your control. You are responsible for activity under your User account, unless you have told us of unauthorised use and we have had a reasonable chance to act.
We may disable a User account (for example if we reasonably believe these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy have been broken, or if required by law).
A User with no Org cannot use research features until they create or join an Org.
Orgs
The Org is the billing entity and the boundary for that Org’s research data (projects, comments, stars, and similar material we store for the Org).
A User may belong to more than one Org and may switch the active Org in the product. Each Org has its own entitlements and data.
Roles you will see in the product are Owner and Member. The Owner is the User who created the Org, or who later holds ownership in the product. Only the Owner may start checkout, change seats or credit packs, cancel or resume a paid plan, or change the payment method.
Members inherit the Org’s entitlements. They do not hold a separate retail subscription.
Named seats and sessions
Access is by named seat. Each Member occupies one seat. You must not share sign-in credentials, share a seat, or let anyone who is not that named User use that seat.
The product enforces concurrent-session limits. Those limits are set in the product and may change. We do not publish the numbers in these Terms.
The Owner must not invite more Members than the Org’s seat cap. Seat changes follow the product and the Refund & Cancellation rules.
5. Acceptable use
You and the Org must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. That policy is part of these Terms.
In short, and without replacing the Acceptable Use Policy:
- use Law1 for lawful legal research and professional work for the Org;
- do not scrape, harvest, bulk-extract, or bypass access, metering, or rate limits;
- do not share credentials or exceed session limits;
- do not use an agent or script to evade metering or the Acceptable Use Policy;
- do not use Law1 (the site, our official machine-readable surface, exports, or our editorial) as a training or bulk-extraction corpus, except under a separately signed one-to-one agreement as described in section 6.
We may monitor usage patterns to enforce these rules and to protect the Service.
6. MCP and agents
You may connect an external agent (for example a desktop or cloud assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol) only through Law1’s official MCP surface, after the human User has signed in and consented in the product.
That agent acts as that User for the active Org. It uses the same entitlements, credit pools, and rate limits as the browser. There is no extra bulk or privileged path for agents.
Using an agent, script, or other automation to evade metering, rate limits, or the Acceptable Use Policy is a breach of these Terms.
Training and bulk corpus use are forbidden by default. You must not use Law1 — including the site, the official MCP surface, exports, or our editorial — to train, develop, test, or improve a model, or to build a competing collection. We may permit training only under a separately executed one-to-one agreement. That path is not self-serve and is not an in-app purchase in this version of the Service.
That exception, if we grant it, does not licence or forbid court text you obtain from the courts themselves. It only addresses what you may do with Law1 and with our editorial.
7. Plans, metering, and trial
The Org’s access is a composed entitlement: a tier, named seats, content grants (packs and other grants we offer), included view and PDF pools, and prepaid credits. What an Org can search and open is limited to the content it is entitled to.
We meter scarce reads (including distinct case-body views and PDF downloads) and enforce rate limits. After an included pool is used up, further reads spend prepaid credits or are blocked. There is no automatic overage bill.
A trial may be available. A trial never auto-charges. If the Owner does not check out a paid plan, the Org moves to the free tier when the trial ends. Trial rules, including what you can buy during a trial, are in the product and on Pricing.
Credit packs, seat add-ons, intervals, and other commercial details exist. The numbers are on Pricing, not in these Terms. We may change future prices and pack sizes. What you pay for a charge is the amount shown at checkout for that charge.
We may also grant entitlements under a separately agreed offline arrangement. Those entitlements still sit on the Org and are still subject to these Terms.
8. Fees, GST, cancel, and refund
The Org pays. Only the Owner may buy, change seats or packs, cancel, resume, or change the payment method.
Paid plans renew for the interval the Owner chose until the Owner cancels in the product. How cancel, lapse, credits, and refunds work is stated only on Refund & Cancellation. Do not treat this section as a second money policy.
If a recurring charge fails, or a payment mandate is paused or revoked, the Org’s paid grants end and the Org moves to free modules. The Org keeps unused view credits, PDF credits, and any INR account credit. Details are on Refund & Cancellation.
We may suspend or limit the Service for non-payment.
Law1 is an India GST supply. Taxable charges attract 18% GST. Place of supply and delivery of this digital service are described on Shipping & Delivery.
Tax invoices are issued through Zoho Books. A receipt from the payment collector is proof of payment only. It is not a tax invoice.
9. Intellectual property
What you may do
We grant the Org and its named Users a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for that Org’s internal legal research and professional work, for as long as the Org is entitled and these Terms are in force.
You may display, read, and (where the product allows and entitlements remain) download material for that work. You may share an insubstantial extract with another Member of the same Org, or with a client, when that sharing is incidental to advice or research for that client. You may not republish, resell, or systematically redistribute Law1 content.
This licence is not a sale of our database, software, or editorial. We and our licensors keep all rights not expressly granted.
Court text
The text of court judgments and orders is a public record. We do not claim copyright in the raw judgment as delivered by the court. Reproduction of a judgment or order as allowed by section 52(1)(q) of the Copyright Act, 1957 is not something these Terms purport to take away.
Our hosting of a judgment is not a certified copy. We may be delayed or incomplete relative to the court. Verify before you rely. See the Disclaimer.
Our editorial and the product
Copyright may subsist in our original editorial and compilation — including headnotes, extracted issues, Law1 citations, selection and arrangement, taxonomy, indexes, and similar work — and in our software, design, trademarks, and documentation.
You must not copy, scrape, or reuse that editorial or the product to build a competing service or a training corpus, except as section 6 allows under a separately signed agreement.
Removal of judgments
Requests to unpublish or redact a judgment follow Case and content removal. We do not offer a private “right to be forgotten” for a person named in a tax or other public order.
10. User content
User content is material you or the Org submit to the Service — including project names and notes, comments, stars, and, when we offer them, uploads.
You (and the Org, as applicable) keep ownership of User content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, display to Members of that Org, back up, moderate, and otherwise process User content as needed to provide and secure the Service, and to comply with law. That licence ends when the User content is deleted from the Service, except for copies we must keep by law or that remain in routine backups for a limited time.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit the User content and that it is lawful. You must not submit material that infringes someone else’s rights or that the Acceptable Use Policy forbids.
Comments and similar notes are visible to Members of the Org. They are not a public forum.
We may remove or restrict User content as described in Case and content removal and the Acceptable Use Policy. Removing User content does not take a judgment page down.
For comments and other User content, you are responsible for what you submit. For the judgment database and our editorial, we select and publish that corpus; we are not a mere intermediary for it.
11. Suspension, termination, and org delete
We may suspend or limit access, or end these Terms as to a User or an Org, if:
- you or the Org break these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy (including scraping, credential sharing, or agent misuse);
- fees are unpaid, a charge fails, or a mandate is paused or revoked;
- we reasonably believe we must do so to protect the Service, other customers, or to comply with law or a competent order; or
- we stop offering the Service.
Where reasonable we will give notice. We may act without prior notice for abuse, scrape, unpaid charges, or legal risk.
The Owner may cancel a paid plan in the product. Cancel and refund consequences are only on Refund & Cancellation.
The Owner may delete the Org in the product. Org delete does not produce a cash refund. We retain tax invoices and other records we must keep by law. After delete, Members lose access to that Org’s research data. How remaining entitlements, credits, and invoices are treated is on Refund & Cancellation where that page speaks to them.
A User may stop using the Service at any time, and may delete their User account in the product. Stopping or deleting a User account does not, by itself, cancel the Org’s paid plan or delete the Org. If you are the Owner, transfer ownership or delete the Org before you delete your account.
Sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, User-content warranties, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, privacy pointers, and disputes) survive termination.
12. Disclaimers and no SLA
The Service is provided as is and as available.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; that judgments, issues, citations, headnotes, or other material are complete, current, or accurate; or that defects will be corrected. We do not warrant fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, except where Indian law does not allow us to exclude that warranty.
There is no uptime, support, or plan-tier service-level agreement. We do not promise a percentage of availability. We do not offer service credits.
Support is available at [email protected] and via Contact. Any indication of reply time on those pages is an operational aim only. It is not a warranty and not an SLA.
Third-party sign-in, payment, and similar services are provided by those third parties. We are not responsible for their systems.
13. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- death or personal injury caused by negligence; or
- any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the Information Technology Act, 2000, or any other applicable Indian law.
If you are a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, nothing in these Terms takes away a right that Act does not allow us to take away. Law1 is offered primarily as a professional research tool for Orgs. That posture does not strip a User who is a consumer of non-excludable rights.
Subject to the two paragraphs above:
- to the extent Indian law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, data, business opportunity, or management time, whether the claim is in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, even if we were told the loss was possible;
- our total liability to you and the Org arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the fees the Org actually paid to us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim. If the Org paid us no such fees in that period, that limit is ₹1,000 (one thousand Indian rupees).
We are not liable for your reliance on the Service or on any judgment, issue, citation, or editorial we host. You must verify primary sources. See the Disclaimer.
14. Indemnity
You and the Org will indemnify LAWONE SOLUTIONS PRIVATE LIMITED, and its directors, officers, and employees, against claims, losses, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising out of:
- your or the Org’s misuse of the Service, including a breach of the Acceptable Use Policy or section 6;
- User content you or the Org submit; or
- your or the Org’s breach of these Terms or of law.
This indemnity does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by our fraud or by death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
15. Privacy
How we handle personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy, not in these Terms. The Privacy Policy is a notice under applicable data-protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 where it applies.
Cookies are described in the Cookie Policy.
16. Changes
We may change these Terms. A material change will have a new effective date on this page. We will give notice by email and in the product.
This version of the Service does not require you to tick again after a change. If you continue to use the Service after that notice, you accept the changed Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service. The Owner should cancel or delete as appropriate. Cancel and delete do not create a cash refund except as Refund & Cancellation says.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of India.
Good-faith resolution, then arbitration
Before a party refers a dispute to arbitration, it must give the other party written notice of the dispute and try in good faith to resolve it for thirty (30) days. This paragraph does not stop a party from seeking interim relief from the Mumbai courts under section 9 of the Act during that period.
A dispute that is not resolved in that period will be referred to ad-hoc arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (as amended).
- Seat and venue: Mumbai, India.
- Language: English.
- Tribunal: a sole arbitrator.
- If the parties cannot agree on the arbitrator, the arbitrator will be appointed under the Act.
The award is final and binding, subject to the Act.
Courts
The courts at Mumbai, India have exclusive jurisdiction:
- for interim measures under section 9 of the Act;
- for challenges to an award and other proceedings the Act allows before a court; and
- for any court proceeding that may go forward despite the arbitration clause.
No other city’s courts have jurisdiction under these Terms.
A party may seek interim relief from the Mumbai courts under section 9 before or during arbitration.
This section does not limit a remedy that cannot be limited under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
18. Contact
For support: [email protected] or Contact.
For a grievance under applicable IT or data-protection rules: Grievance officer. We do not use a separate grievance@ address.
For a security vulnerability: Vulnerability disclosure. Put Security in the subject. We do not use a separate security@ address.
Formal legal notices to us may be sent to LAWONE SOLUTIONS PRIVATE LIMITED at the registered address above, with a copy to [email protected].
We may notify you by email to the address on your User account or the Org billing profile, by a message in the product, or by posting on this page.
19. General
Entire agreement. These Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, and the other pages they incorporate or point to for a stated subject, are the entire agreement between you, the Org, and us about the Service. They replace prior discussions about that subject. A separately signed one-to-one agreement (including a training or offline-entitlement agreement) prevails over these Terms only for the subject it covers.
Severability. If a court or tribunal finds a part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force. The invalid part is modified to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a right, we do not waive it.
Assignment. You and the Org may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or to a successor in connection with a reorganisation or transfer of the Service, and we will give notice. These Terms bind permitted successors.
No partnership. These Terms do not create a partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship.
Third-party rights. These Terms do not give enforcement rights to anyone other than you, the Org, and us, except as the indemnity identifies.
Force majeure. We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages of power, networks, or third-party infrastructure, legal orders, or natural disasters.
Interpretation. Headings are for reading only. “Including” means “including without limitation”. A reference to a statute is to that statute as amended.
