1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform, you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Description of Service

Law1 provides an online legal research platform that allows users to search, view, and research case laws, judgments, and legal content. The Platform includes:

• Full-text search across GST Court judgments and ITAT orders
• Advanced filtering by parties, dates, sections, and legal provisions
• User accounts with API key access for programmatic use
• Multiple subscription tiers with varying usage limits

The Platform is provided for informational and research purposes only. All content is provided "as is" and "as available."

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the Platform. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

4. User Accounts

4.1 Account Creation

To access certain features, you must create an account using email-based OTP authentication. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.

4.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including API keys. You agree to:

• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
• Not share your login credentials or API keys with any third party

4.3 One Account Per User

You may maintain only one active account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits or access restrictions is prohibited.

5. License Grant

Subject to these Terms, Law1 grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Platform for your personal or professional legal research purposes.

5.1 Permitted Uses

• Search and view case laws and judgments for legal research
• Print or save reasonable portions for personal reference
• Use API keys for lawful, non-commercial research purposes
• Cite cases found on the Platform in legal proceedings or documents

5.2 Restrictions

You may NOT:

• Reproduce, distribute, or resell any content from the Platform
• Create derivative works or databases from Platform content
• Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
• Use content for commercial purposes without written permission

6. Fair Usage Policy

This Fair Usage Policy ("FUP") ensures equitable access and protects our intellectual property.

6.1 Usage Limits by Plan

Your subscription plan determines your usage limits:

We employ technical safeguards including rate limiting, request throttling, and anomaly detection. Excessive usage that degrades service for others may result in temporary or permanent restrictions.

6.3 Bulk Download Prohibition

Systematic downloading, scraping, or harvesting of content is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to:

• Using automated scripts, bots, or crawlers
• Mass downloading of judgments or search results
• Circumventing technical access controls

7. Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

• Share accounts: Allow others to use your credentials or API keys
• Scrape or automate: Use robots, spiders, scripts, or automation to access content
• Circumvent limits: Create multiple accounts or use technical means to bypass restrictions
• Redistribute content: Republish, resell, or commercially exploit Platform content
• Interfere: Disrupt, probe, or attack Platform infrastructure
• Impersonate: Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
• Upload harmful content: Introduce malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Violate laws: Use the Platform for unlawful purposes or to infringe third-party rights

8. Subscription Plans

8.1 Plan Types

We offer multiple subscription tiers with different features and usage limits. Plan details are displayed on our pricing page.

8.2 Free Trial

Free trials are for evaluation purposes only. Creating multiple accounts to extend trial access is prohibited.

8.3 Plan Changes

Plan upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing cycle. Plan changes must be authorized by admin users.

9. Payment Terms

9.1 Pricing

All prices are in Indian Rupees (₹) unless stated otherwise. Prices and availability are subject to change with notice.

9.2 Payment Representation

You represent that all payment information provided is accurate and complete, and that you are authorized to use the payment method.

9.3 Refund Policy

Paid subscriptions are non-refundable except in cases of billing errors. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us within 7 days of the transaction.

9.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access until the end of the current billing period.

10. Intellectual Property

10.1 Platform Content

All content on the Platform, including text, databases, designs, and software, is owned by or licensed to Law1 and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

10.2 User Submissions

If you submit content (feedback, suggestions, etc.), you grant Law1 a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, modify, and display such content. You represent that you have all necessary rights to submit such content.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Law1 disclaims all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that:

• Content is accurate, complete, or up-to-date
• The Platform will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Search results will be comprehensive or legally sufficient

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Law1 shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities.

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to Law1 in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Law1, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Platform
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your infringement of third-party rights
• Any content you submit to the Platform

14. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause or notice, including for violation of these Terms.

Upon termination:

• Your right to access the Platform ceases immediately
• We may delete your account data and content
• Provisions that should survive termination shall remain in effect

15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Delhi, India.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you via email or Platform notice.
